Damage Prevention News

Call Okie teamed up with over 31 representatives of various members and staff to host a free Excavation Safety and Underground Facility Damage Prevention Program held at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds on May 18, 2005. Over 108 county employees from Blaine, Kingfisher, and Logan counties attended this outstanding meeting, which discussed excavation safety, how to determine if an underground facility is damaged, and how to properly handle an incident. Underground facility owners participated in a panel discussion to answer questions and address concerns those county employees had regarding underground facilities located their particular county.

Call Okie and its members remain proactive in getting the “Call Before You Dig” message out. Call Okie and its members have been hosting County Employee Programs, similar to this one, since 2004. Oklahoma One-Call will continue to host these beneficial meeting for every county in three-year cycles. Look for us in your community!

Call Okie and its six Damage Prevention Councils, including Frontier Country, Green Country, Kiamichi Country, Great Plains Country, Red Carpet Country, and the Lake and Trails Country, have started their annual campaign to distribute Rental Tool Kits to all the various Rental Tool Agencies across the State of Oklahoma.

Over 275 of these kits will be distributed by the end of this summer. The tool kits are made up of Call Okie materials including Excavator Guides, User Guides, and color code cards, decals, and key chains, and pencils. This material is provided to the Rental Tool Agencies to be distributed to their customers who plan on renting excavation equipment. It’s just one more way to get the “Call Before You Dig” message out and keep potential problems from occurring.

If you are interested in requesting handout materials for your customers who may be excavating, please contact the Call Okie Marketing Department at 1-800-522-6544 or you can order online.
